Save Up to 50% on my Adobe Photoshop Lightroom for Photographers seminar at The Viewfinder Center for Photography in Winterthur, Switzerland

November 1-4, 2012

Night sky and stars over Electric Peak, Montana The first students who register for my Adobe Photoshop Lightroom workshop at the Viewfinder Center for Photography this November will get a big discount off the course tuition! Lightroom is a professional-grade image management and digital image enhancement tool but teaching yourself Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is not easy. With our help, you can master this software in just four days!

This short software training seminar focuses on Lightroom’s Library and Develop Modules. Throughout this class we learn effective techniques for managing and searching through a large volume of digital images. We spend a lot of time discussing how to store your images, where to store your images, and the relationship between your Lightroom database and your actual digital capture files. Once we have strong image organization skills this class moves on to the tools in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom’s amazing Develop Module.

In the Develop Module we will cover 21st-century tools for making sophisticated exposure adjustments, elegant methods for converting color images to black and white, robust ways to remove dust spots from your digital captures, and explore non-destructive cropping techniques. We discuss numerous ways to improve even the best of your digital images and to take your work in new directions. Mastering Lightroom’s image enhancement tools can revolutionize your workflow and help you create gorgeous images!

This is the only Adobe Photoshop Lightroom seminar that I will be teaching this year outside of the United States. As Switzerland’s first English-language photography learning center, ViewFinder leads the way in providing creative learning experiences that encourage people to develop their own passion for photography.

Learn Composition from the Photography of Henri Cartier-Bresson

“Do you see it?” This question is a photographic mantra. Myron Barnstone , my mentor, repeats this question every day with the hopes that we do “see it.” This obvious question reminds me that even though I have seen Cartier-Bresson’s prints and read his books, there are major parts of his work which remain hidden from public view. Beneath the surface of perfectly timed snap shots is a design sensibility that is rarely challenged by contemporary photographers. Henri Cartier-Bresson. © Martine Franck Words To Know 1:1.5 Ratio: The 35mm negative measures 36mm x 24mm. Mathematically it can be reduced to a 3:2 ratio. Reduced even further it will be referred to as the 1:1.5 Ratio or the 1.5 Rectangle. Eyes: The frame of an image is created by two vertical lines and two horizontal lines. The intersection of these lines is called an eye. The four corners of a negative can be called the “eyes.” This is extremely important because the diagonals connecting these lines will form the breakdown ...
